The liver is the main detoxification organ of the body filtering out toxins, chemicals, and all medicines from the gut and hormone systems. Our bodies must be able to detoxify, or neutralize, toxins from the external environment as well as those produced with in our own bodies (endotoxins). The liver removes bacteria, endotoxins, antigen-antibody complexes, and other particles from circulation. It makes and secretes bile, which is required for absorption of fat-soluble substances and the excretion of toxic substances.
