Dr. John Bastyr was a pioneering figure in naturopathic medicine, known for his significant contributions to integrating natural healing methods with conventional medical practices. He was one of the early proponents of naturopathic medicine in North America and is often considered a foundational figure in the field. Bastyr was particularly influential in the development of naturopathic education. He helped establish Bastyr University in 1978, which is the university Dr. Pfeiffer received her doctorate from. His legacy continues to shape how alternative therapies are perceived and utilized in modern medicine.

When a patient was going through a “healing crisis”, Dr. Bastyr would often times recommend dietary aids. His soup contains many essential minerals and electrolytes; it is a good, easy source of nutrition. It is also aids in healing the gut and is easily digested and absorbed.

Ingredients

  • Equal parts:
    • Carrots
    • Cabbage
    • Potatoes with the skin
    • Celery with the tops
  • Bone broth

Directions

  1. Boil broth with the vegetables for approximately 30 minutes, or until tender.
  2. Blend soup together.
  3. Eat repeatedly.

Celery Whole fennel with leeks or lovage
